Josephine C. Palancia, 95, of Lafayette Hill passed away on December 2, 2024 with family by her side.
She was born on February 6, 1929 in South Philadelphia, the daughter of the late Leopoldo and Marina (Vacchiano) Palancia. She was predeceased by her brother Pasquale and sister Gilda OReilly.
Josephine graduated from South Philadelphia High School for Girls and Temple University. In 1954 she graduated from Temple University School of Dentistry as the only woman in her class.
At the beginning of her career, Josephine practiced dentistry in Philadelphia and New Jersey, showcasing her exceptional skills and compassionate nature. In 1963, she opened her own practice in Lafayette Hill, where she became known as a skilled and caring dentist who built personal connections with each of her patients.
Josephine traveled all over the world but was especially fond of Italy. She also enjoyed summer vacations with her family in Ocean City NJ.
Throughout her life she brought a sense of practicality, warmth, and humor to all her social interactions. She will be greatly missed and fondly remembered by family and friends.
She is survived by her cherished nieces Marina O’Reilly(Michael Pensiero), Margaret O’Reilly, and Paula O’Reilly(Keith Lewish) and great nephew Nicholas Pensiero.
A private service will be held for Josephine.
