Obituary of Joseph A D'Angelo

Please share a memory of Joseph to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Joseph Anthony D'Angelo, 81, of Plymouth Meeting, PA, passed away on January 31, 2024. He was born on August 8, 1942, in Philadelphia, PA. Joe was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He was an owner and former President in his family contracting business, D'Angelo Brothers Inc., foundation and excavation contractors in Philadelphia until his retirement in 2020.

Joe was a lifelong advocate of youth soccer, attending his sons' games and traveling for tournaments. He instilled in all of us the value of hard work and the importance of family. In his retirement, he cherished spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren, especially at his home in Sea Isle City, NJ, during the summers. Joe was a fixture on the porch on 46th street, where everyone would stop to talk to him on their way to the beach.

He is survived by his loving wife, Carole J. D'Angelo (nee Waggener), and his brothers Michael E. (Margaret) and Stephen J. (Beatrice). Joe was also a cherished father to Joseph John (Carolyn), Donna (Carl), Michael (Patricia), Anthony (Connie), Suzanne (Stephen), and Damian (Nancy). He leaves behind 12 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. Joe was preceded in death by his father, Joseph John D'Angelo, his mother, Katherine D'Angelo (Mahaney), and his brothers Frank (Cicci) and Anthony J.

Joe attended St. Michael of the Saints for primary school and North Catholic High School. He was a longtime member of St. Philip Neri Parish in Lafayette Hill, PA, where he worshipped.

He grew up playing soccer at the Germantown Boys Club, where he made many lifelong friends. An avid soccer advocate, Joe served as the recording secretary for the United Soccer League.

A viewing will be held at 9:30am, followed by a funeral mass at 11am on Monday, February 5, 2024, at St. Philip Neri Church in Lafayette Hill, PA. The Lownes Family Funeral Home in Lafayette Hill, PA, is assisting with the arrangements.
