Obituary of Henry A Darragh

Henry Darragh of Lafayette Hill and Ocean City NJ passed on May 13, 2023 peacefully at home.

Hank to his friends and later affectionally known as Poppy to his 16 grandchildren, was born in Philadelphia in 1936 to a strong Irish woman from Mayo, Mary Igoe.

Hank graduated LaSalle High School in 1953 and LaSalle College in 1957.  After college he went on to Officer Candidate School in Newport RI and served as a Naval Supply Officer which took him around the world. After his Naval career, he went to work for Smith Kline Laboratories retired after 30 years.  After retirement he worked for ten years at St Joe’s Prep in the finance office.

Hank met the love of his life Clare in Ocean City NJ, they married in 1963 and would go on to have seven amazing children, Michael (Wendy), Tim (Lynette), Tom, Clare Anne (Michael), Jamie (Amy), Dan, Chris (Rebecca).

Hank was a hardworking man and devout Catholic who simply wanted the best for his children, which of course included his grandchildren whom he loved.  Mike D, Robby, Ryan, Tylar (Paige), Kiersten, Danny, Dylan, Addyson, Ella, Cameron, Mathew, Patrick, Nicholas, Joseph, Mary Clare and Brendan were always the topic of conversation, and he loved hearing about all of their adventures.

Hank loved winters in Marco Island, FL his summers in Ocean City NJ and will always be remembered by all with a glass of red wine in his hand.
 

Services will be held on Tuesday, May 23^rd at St Philip Neri Church in Lafayette Hill, PA.  Viewing is 9:30am immediately followed by Funeral Mass at 11:30am.  Burial to follow at Calvary Cemetery in West Conshohocken.
