Obituary of Helen B Anderson

Please share a memory of Helen to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Daughter of the late Arthur A. Brennan, Jr. and Katharine Lowry Brennan. Beloved wife of Daniel R. Anderson. Loving mother of Jill W. Anderson and stepmother of Michael R. Anderson (Caitlin) and Robert N. Anderson. Step-grandmother of Bradley R. Anderson. Sister of Mary “Robbie” Hain (George), Gerardean “Deane” Brennan, Christine Brennan (Prodromos Dagoglou), and the late Patricia Brennan-heldt and A. Andrew Brennan, III. Also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Helen attended Gwynedd Mercy Academy K-12 where she swam with the school and Whitemarsh Valley Country Club. She then went on to attend the University of Pennsylvania where she received her Bachelor’s degree in Economics, was a captain for the Women’s Varsity Swim Team while holding numerous records, and was a member of the Friars Senior Society. After graduating, Helen worked for the Wharton Econometric Forecasting Associates and later moved to Washington D.C. to work at the International Monetary Fund as a Computer Systems Manager. Helen then returned to the University of Pennsylvania to receive her MBA in Finance at the Wharton School. After graduate school, she went to work for AstraZeneca for 29 years, retiring in 2021 as a Senior Business Manager, US.

Helen tremendously enjoyed her time by the pool. She loved to swim laps, read by the water, attend swim meets, and talk with friends and family at Whitemarsh Valley and Radley Run Country Clubs. She also looked forward to vacationing in Avalon every summer. Helen loved walking along the beach in addition to the time she spent at Longwood Gardens and the historic Brandywine battlefields. She enjoyed her European trip that included Switzerland, Austria, and Italy, in which her favorite places were St. Moritz and Salzburg. Over the years, Helen had fun in various parts of Florida, including her golf trips with friends and spring breaks with her family. Another favorite travel spot was Arizona, whether that was hiking in the Grand Canyon, sightseeing in Sedona, or golfing at the Boulders. Helen especially loved spending time with her family and friends around the holidays and special occasions.
