Obituary of David Wyher

Please share a memory of David to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

David Aurthur Wyher of Blue Bell, Pennsylvania, was called home to be with the Lord on November 30th, 2022 after a short battle with Brain Cancer. He was 73 years old. Dave was a kind man with a sharp wit, a patient father, loving husband, wise advisor, trusted friend, and devoted servant of God.

Dave was born on January 17th, 1949 in Rome, New York to Paul and Margauret Wyher. He was the youngest brother to Sisters Carrol Scisco, Judy Wyher, Lorry Sutherland, and brother to Paul Wyher. Dave attended Eastern College in St. Davids, PA where he graduated with a B.A in Psychology 1971. He went on to receive his M.A. from Villanova University in 1975.

Dave is survived by his loving wife Theresa. He would tell you his greatest achievement in life was being Terri’s husband. He could have only accomplished all he did in life with the support of her love and partnership. Dave and Theresa built a great family, sons David (Jennifer), Christopher (Laura), Geoffrey (Sabrina), Daniel (Martyne), and daughter Robin (Jeffrey).

Dave had many titles in his life; husband, father, chairman, CEO, but the one he was most proud of was Grand-Dude. Dave was blessed with grandchildren whom he loved dearly; Logan, Fiona, Penelope and Arlo. Dave wouldn't let you forget about his dog Oscar who provided him needed comfort in his final days. Dave was the patriarch of a large extended family, whom he loved, and generously supported and guided. He looked forward to hosting large family gatherings at Christmas and summer barbeques.

Dave was a true friend. Many of those friends would call him a brother. He looked forward to hosting neighbors, golf trips to Hilton Head, motorcycle rides, attending car shows, black-tie dinners, Younglife events, and church gatherings .

Dave was a very proud member of the Gideons International. His service took him to over 20 countries in Africa, Asia and South America. He was very proud of his work, delivering the word of God abroad.

Dave founded and led Delta Community Supports, Inc. as CEO from 1977 to 2022 with one mission: To enrich the lives of individuals with intellectual disabilities and their families through outstanding community based supports and mutually rewarding relationships. In Dave’s 45 year career in PA and NJ his company cared and supported for over 1,000 individuals in Community Living, 13,000+ in foster care, and helped to coordinate living programs and over 600 adoptions. He was very proud to be the longest serving member of PAR (Pennsylvania Advocacy and Resources for Autism and Intellectual Disability). His tireless advocacy for those who needed a voice helped change and improve the quality of care administered to individuals with intellectual disabilities.

Dave led a life of active service.  He provided his unique leadership and management skills to over 15 company Boards and Associations.  His exemplary ability to plan and organize small communities not only empowered individuals, but also strengthened organizations as a whole.

He will be missed beyond measure by all who knew him.  We will mourn his passing but celebrate the wonderful life he led.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 17th, at the New Life Presbyterian Church in Dresher, PA. A receiving line with Dave's family will begin at 10 AM, followed by the service at 11 AM.
