I am sending my sincere condolences to the Loughran Family. I very much enjoyed working with Joe, I found him to be extremely practical and fair man with a great sense of humor. As in the Principle-Distributor relationship we Haskel sponsored "team building events", and one year Joe joined us on. fishing trip to the upper reaches off Manitoba, Canada, in a town named The Pas. It was our day to fish together and we crossed the 15 mi diameter lake without an issue and fished all day. We decide to work our way back to the lodge, and on the way back, in our 15 to 17 ft aluminum boats with 30 to 40 hp motors, we encountered a wicked chop, 4 to 5 feet white caps. A 40 minute ride became 2 1/2 hours. At one point Joe looked at me and told me, "George, I know you are doing the best you can". At the time, I did not take those words as seriously as Joe meant them. When all boats arrived safely at the dock, one the guys ran to the lodge and brought down a bottle of Scotch that we passed around until it was empty! That is the kind of bonding that one never forgets.
