My deepest sympathy and condolences to the family. I worked for John at PennDOT for some years and can say he did always have a quick wit and keen sense of humor and irony. I’m sorry to hear of his passing and your loss.

John, may you rest in peace my neighbor and friend!
I shall miss seeing you on your deck with the newspaper/book and waving as you rode by my house!
Kathy and Leigh, you are in my thoughts and prayers at this sad and difficult time.
Blessings to both of you and stay well.
You both now have a special guardian angel to watch over you!

The Phila. Gerritys send sincere condolences to you and the family. “Quiet man...of unparalleled wit” is such an apt description of John. We have fond memories of John when he stayed at our house for a bit while attending Temple U. And later, when he and Kathy would stop by and visit with our parents.
Once during his Temple stay at our house, our mom called us 7 kids to dinner, plus Jack. We were all seated around the table with John at head of the table (our dad was working that night.) Jack said “I suppose you’re all wondering why I called this meeting”. We thought he was hilarious (& we all used the line often. Although I’m sure we never delivered The line as well he did.

My deepest condolences to Johns wife and Daughter. Although I never met you Kathy, John often told me that he left you in the car with the window cracked while he sat and had his glass of wine. He always made my day when he came walking through the door. I knew I would hear a funny often unbelievable story or a joke that I didn’t quite understand. John would roll his eyes and tell me just to pour another glass of wine. I am a teacher and John often gave me advice on that or just life in general. He will be remembered and missed dearly. Love, Alexis ( Johnny and Carols daughter)

Dear Kathy and Leigh - our deepest sympathy on losing your beloved husband and Dad. Leigh, we love the picture which you posted of your Mom and Dad and their suitcases. Their happy smiles are so special. Whenever we were with John, there was always a smile and a kind look. May John's gentleness, kindness, humor and peace comfort you and serve as a reminder for all of us of what is most important in life.
Love, Mary Anne and Duff

I had only a few conversations with him while I was doing some work there. It was alway a pleasure to hear him tell some stories. I enjoyed listening to him.

Im so sad to have learned about John. I will miss our conversations that were always so deep, but about nothing. John was 34 years my elder but that was always forgotten. It always seemed like he was one of my buddies I grew up with. John you were such an interesting character with your dry humor. I'm very grateful that I had met you. John you will be missed, missed terribly.

Dear Uncle John,
I am so happy that I got to see you last Tuesday and tell you I loved you. Thank you for always representing Boglemania years after the fact, providing me and Leigh with our very own pirates' legend, and for introducing me to snapper soup.
Love always,
Allie
