Obituary of Kevin J. Flanagan Sr.

Kevin J. Flanagan Sr., age 88 of Lafayette Hill PA, died Wednesday (4/13) in the Sunrise assisted living facility in Laf. Hill. He was a Railway Marketing Manager for Stackpole Carbon Company located in ST. Marys Pa. retired in 1991 .He had formerly worked for The Allenwood Steel Co. Mr. Flanagan Sr. was born in Phila., PA, the son of the late Joseph and the late Rosanna Madden Flanagan. Husband of the late Patricia Gallagher Flanagan who died in 2000. Mr. Flanagan grew up in Germantown and was a graduate of St. Joes Prep in Phila.class of 1941 and Villanova Univ. where he recieved his Electrical engineering degree. He was a ww2 army vet. serving in Black Panther Divison in St. Nazaire and Lorient sectors along the west coast of France for the 66th Infantry division. Mr. Flanagan was an active member of Saint Philip Neri Church in Lafayette and was a member of their choir . He was also a member of the Knights Of Columbus and was a 4th degree Knight .Kevin was also involved with area amateur theatricals and was known for his baritone voice. Mr. Flanagan enjoyed reading, traveling,singing and volunteering his time to many charities. He is survived by one daughter: Kathleen Flanagan Herling of Worcester, PA six sons: Kevin Flanagan Jr.(Elaine) of Worcester, PA, James Flanagan (Jane) of Lafayette Hill, PA, Joseph Flanagan (Barbara) of Plymouth Meeting, PA., Barry Flanagan of Lafayette Hill, PA, Francis Flanagan (Maureen) of Lafayette Hill, PA, Stephen Flanagan (Kathleen) of Lafayette Hill, PA 16 Grandchildren, 1 Great Grandson, Friends may call Sunday 4/17 from 5-8pm at Saint Philip Neri Church, 437 Ridge Pike, Lafayette Hill, PA. and Monday 4/18 from 9:30-11AM at Saint Philip Neri Church, Funeral mass will be held MONDAY 4/18 at 11:00 am Burial will be in the Calvary Cemetery, Lower Merion. In lieu of flowers: Contributions may be made to St.Philip Neri or Saint Joes Prep. 1733 W.Girarad Ave.Phila.Pa. 19130. Funeral arrangements are by the Lownes Funeral Home of Lafayette Hill.
