Obituary of Myra Fitz Love

Please share a memory of Myra to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Myra Fitz Love was born in Maspeth, New York on June 17, 1928. She entered Heaven’s gates on May 16, 2018.

Myra Love enjoyed many interests and hobbies throughout her life.  In her youth, she enjoyed biking, softball and volleyball.  After taking voice lessons in her teens, she did volunteer singing in Red Cross sponsored programs at hospitals, USO military functions, and in choruses at Philadelphia National Bank and Leeds & Northrop, where she often soloed.  She also traveled with the Philadelphia Bank chorus to sing at the Convention Hall in Atlantic City and the Philadelphia Town Hall, and continued singing for many church choirs throughout much of her adulthood.  Myra had many hobbies. She was skilled in furniture restoration, crafting, knitting, crocheting, and genealogy. She was also skilled with hand tools.

A consummate mother and homemaker, Myra always put family first.  Prior to marriage, and raising a family with her husband, Bob, in Dresher, Pennsylvania, Myra went to Pace University for business courses.  She served as executive secretary at the main office of National City Bank on Wall Street, and later as executive secretary for the Philadelphia National Bank.  When the children had all entered school, she went to work for Amchem Union Carbide, in Spring House, PA.  She was an excellent cook and enjoyed preparing meals for her family and friends. She also put together a 2-volume set of her favorite dishes.

Myra had an unwavering faith in God throughout her life.  After getting married and moving to Pennsylvania, she was a member of The Oreland Presbyterian Church, the First Presbyterian Church in Flourtown, and the Jarrettown United Methodist Church, and was a lead soprano for each of their choirs.

Myra was the daughter of Frank and Harriet Fitz of Maspeth, Queens Borough, on Long Island, New York. She was predeceased by her loving husband of 49 years, Robert A. Love, of Philadelphia, PA.  She was also predeceased by her brother, Franklin R. Fitz and daughter-in-law, Gail Beck Love.  Myra is survived by son, Russell Love and Debbie Desmond, son Bruce Love and his wife Kären, and daughter Karen Zech and her husband, Christopher.  She is also survived by six grandchildren, Tim Love and wife Michelle, Kyle Love, Alysia Love Bartley and husband Josh, Stephanie Zech, Benjamin Zech, and Daniel Zech.  She had two great grandchildren, Kylie Love and Gannon Bartley.
