Obituary of Frank J. Gallagher Jr.

Dear husband and father, Frank J. Gallagher passed into eternal life on Thursday, April 19th, 2018, embraced and mourned by his beloved wife Florence and family. Frank was born July 31, 1937 in Phila., PA., son of the late Frank J. Gallagher Sr. and the late Helen (Jimison) Gallagher. He spent his early years as a "dual citizen" of the Mt. Airy section of Philadelphia and Ocean City, N.J. where he spent the most idyllic part of his childhood in the family home on Seacliff Rd. He loved attending St. Augustine's Elementary school, B-17 bomber drills along the beaches during W.W. II, and working on fishing boats in the summer. His spent his early career as an insurance adjuster for Skibel Insurance and The Fireman's Fund before finding his true life's calling as an "automobile man." He first sold for John B. White Ford, but eventually established, with great pride and satisfaction, his professional identity in the Cadillac crest. He reveled in the honor of becoming the youngest Sales Manager in Cadillac franchise history, and spent the balance of his professional life in the auto business, establishing one of the first "buy here, pay here" auto stores in the area. Frank's greatest joy was simply spending social time with the family. He loved sitting around the dinner table discussing every topic under the sun, laughing, debating, and enjoying good company. He ecstatically loved classical music, opera, and song. An honorary alumnus of Villanova University, "The Cardinal" attended football games and sang the V.U. fight song for some wonderful years. He enjoyed beautiful times with the family during excursions to Ocean City, where he'd regale us with childhood stories, and rides up to the Poconos filled with music, laughter, and the wonder of natural beauty. He is survived by his wife: Florence (Sharkey) Gallagher Jr., four sons: Frank J. Gallagher III (Colleen), Bill Gallagher (Sue), Brian Gallagher (Palma) and Eugene Gallagher. He is also survived by his six grandchildren- Sean, Billy, Brian, Jillian, Shannon and Maeve. A Mass of Christian burial will be held 11:00 am on Friday, April 27 at Saint Philip Neri Church, 437 Ridge Pike, Lafayette Hill, PA. 19444 Burial will be private.
