Obituary of Joseph S. DiLucca

Joseph Samuel DiLucca 89, died Monday, August, 21, 2017 at the Masonic Village in Lafayette Hill Pa. following a very brief illness. He is preceded in death by his loving wife of 50 years, Jennie Marie DiLucca, who lost her battle with breast cancer in 2000. He is also preceded in death by Jeanne McGuire who he married in 2003.
Joseph leaves behind daughter, Lynn Davison and her husband William Davison, his son, Mark DiLucca and his wife LeeAnne DiLucca; five grandchildren, Paul, Mark II, Karen, Michael, and Eric; 4 great grandchildren, Jimmy, Will, Dillon, Noah, and many close friends.
Born in Berwyn, and raised in Wayne, the son of Joseph DiLucca Sr. and Angeline (Copolla) DiLucca. In his early years, Joe was a well known soda jerk in Wayne and an usher at the Wayne Movie Theater. After graduating from Radnor High School (1946), he enlisted in the US Army and served in WWII as a technician, and recipient of the Victory Medal and the Occupational Medal. Joe met Jennie while walking to Sunday school, as Jennie lived only 4 blocks away.
After serving in the Army, Mr. DiLucca worked at Villanova University designing systems for computer automation. Joe then worked in the printing industry for 10 years.
Joe had a passion for hunting, golf and was an avid ballroom dancer. Joe was a member of Edgemont Golf Club for several years where he met many good friends. Joe also did a great deal of traveling. He was an active parishioner of Our Lady of the Assumption Church in Strafford for many years where in his younger years was an alter boy, then later an usher and lector. Joe was an active member "The Mainliners" men's barbershop chorus and a past board member of the Wayne Italian American Club.
Memorial services will be held on Monday, August 28th. Visitation from 10:00 – 11:00, followed by mass and burial at Our Lady of the Assumption Church, Strafford Pa.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to Malvern Retreat 315 S Warren Ave, Malvern, Pa.
