Doris (Robertson) Kaufman
Of Palm City, Florida, formerly of Fort Washington and Dresher, PA, on July 17th , age 88; Wife of the late John G. Kaufman; Mother of Gwendolyn Gordon Hughes (Edward) of Blue Bell, PA and John (Jay) G. Kaufman, Jr.(Martha Clinton) of Palm City, FL; Loving sister of Alice May (Herb), of Ephrata, PA; Betsy Wilson (Jim), of Newton, MA;. the late Malcom G. Robertson (the late Jean), of Lafayette Hill, PA; and the late Joan Nickerson (Fred), of San Diego, CA; Adored "Aunt Dar" to her seventeen nieces and nephews.
Raised in Chestnut Hill and Erdenheim, PA, Doris was the oldest daughter of Malcom and Beatrice (Harner) Robertson, to whom she remained devoted throughout their lives, from helping in their flower shop to assisting with their care as they grew older. She shared life-long treasured relationships with all of her siblings and their children, while her own children, Gwennie and Jay, were the lights of her life.
Known for her graciousness and impeccable taste, Doris was also a fierce competitor and athlete. A star field hockey player at Springfield High School, later an avid golfer and club champion at Manufacturer's Country Club in Oreland, PA, Jonathan's Landing and Cypress Links in Jupiter, FL, and Riverbend in Tequesta, FL; she enjoyed golfing at Center Square Golf Club in Worcester, PA with her many friends.
A skilled craftsperson, her needlepoint adorned the walls and furniture of her beautiful homes and those of her family, while her knitting, from sweaters and socks to baby blankets, kept warm all of the many loved ones and friends whom she held dear near and far.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 AM, Monday, July 31, 2017 at Presbyterian Church of Chestnut Hill, 8855 Germantown Avenue, Philadelphia, PA, where relatives and friends will be received from 10:00 AM until the service. Internment private.
