IN HONOR OF A MAN I'VE NEVER MET
I can't tell you how many times the man I'm dating, Kenn Perry, has talked about the incredible teacher who came into his life in the fifth grade.
With tremendous pride, he tells me how Lou absolutely changed his life. With heartfelt passion, he tells me how he felt the urgency to strive to achieve. With utmost gratitude, he tells me how he was released from a future of bare mediocrity. All because of a man who cared.
Kenn is nearly 62 years old now and excels because of what was instilled in him so many years ago.
I've never met Lou. I wanted to see his picture and when I did, a tear came to my eye.
Rest in peace and thank you for living out your purpose in this world.

My very first time trying out for widener basketball team I didn't make it, he said to me "don't give up you'll get there" and with that I didn't I kept practicing he even made me the team score keeper. So I still felt like I was a part of the team. I tried out the next year and I made the team. That was the start for love off basketball.

I don't usually wear my heart on my sleeve. But I just lost my good friend and 5th grade teacher Lou Marino. He was a wonderful person. We were his first class at Widener Memorial School. Lou was the first adult to look me eye to eye and told me I was valued as a person. He said "just be yourself" He started me on the road to a very happy life. I thank him.
I love you forever and a day Lou. I miss you. RIP. Love, Anne.

Barbara and family, Lou was a patient of mine at what is now Lansdale Hospital. I have and will never forget his stories about his love for you and his kindness to me as a caregiver. He was so special to this life and will be so in heaven. One of my favorite, memorable patients, but he hated being sick. Kathy McCaney, RN

We had a lot of good years together at Widener. I know all of the Widener family will miss Lou and his always positive attitude and service to and love for his students.we always had a good laugh when Dick and "Stormy" went on their weekend camp outs with the scouts and it would rain, no matter how carefully they planned things. G-d bless and comfort your family.

Lou, I can only hope to be the teacher and role model that you are. Not only to the students, but to the staff, your friends, family and community. Ironically, I am sitting here writing this, along Matt's bedside. The first time I needed you, I was along his bedside then too. You not only helped me, but my student teacher, aide and students. I will miss you. You were a rare gem...
