Penn Vision Research Center’s Dr. John H. Parkes passed away on January 15, 2017. John was a brilliant polymath collaborator and craftsman who contributed deep insight and extraordinary technical skills to the vision research of dozens of us faculty and scores of students, post-docs and others here at Penn and at other institutions over the past 40 years. He was a giving and gentle giant. We miss you, John.
