Herbert J. Weintraub, age 94, of Lafayette Hill, PA died Saturday, January 14, 2017 at The Hill At Whitemarsh of Lafayette Hill, PA.. Herbert J. was born September 12, 1922 in Phila., PA. He is the son of the late Julius and the late Birdie (Moos) Weintraub. He was the husband of the late Tina (Varanini) who passed in 7/13/2011. Mr. Weintraub attended the Henry School in Germantown and then transferred to Friends Select where he graduated from. He was accepted to the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor and during his first year he was drafted into the Army. Herbert became a French/English Interpreter and was sent to Stanford University to prepare for this process at which time he met the love of his life ,Tina Varanini who joined him marriage after World War Two. Upon returning to Philadelphia Mr. and Mrs. Weintraub made their mark on Philadelphia-Mrs. Weintraub working for the City for many years and Mr. Weintraub joining the family business at Weintraub Brothers Patriot Uniforms. After losing his brother in 1956 Herbert became the patriarch of the family and with his open heart and generous spirit he was there to help his family at any time. Herbert was particularly skilled and knowledgeable regarding business and the stock market and encouraged his grandson and taught him many practical investment strategies. Herbert also had a passion for tennis and played on a senior circuit winning many trophies for amny years. He played tennis till the age of 90. Herbert also enjoyed classical music and show tunes. He will be sorely missed by his devoted family and many friends. He is survived by one daughter: Wendy Levin (Jay) of Lafayette Hill, PA; ; He also has one Grandson- Joshua Levin (Ashley) of Lafayette Hill, PA; 1 Great Grandaughter-Jia,. Services were held privately Tuesday January 17, 2017. Memorial donations may be made to the Logan Tennis Club- Elkins Park, Pa. . .
