Please share a memory of Leon D. to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Leon "Lee" D. Guziewicz, 78, passed away on July 31, 2016 after two recent hospitalizations and a three week stay in hospice care. Lee was born on May 20, 1938 in Wilmington, DE where he lived with his family until they moved to the Manuyunk section of Philadelphia after the war.
Upon graduation from Roman Catholic High School, Lee attended Villanova University and graduated in 1960 with a Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering.
Early in his career, Lee worked in the steel industry where he gained a tremendous amount of experience as a Corporate Real Estate Manager. He subsequently was retained as the full time Real Estate Consultant by the receivers in the Bankruptcy of the Alan Wood Steel Company.
Later in his career, he became the Manager of Real Estate for Sony Corporation of America in New York, NY, while attending Columbia University at night earning an MBA.
Most recently and prior to his retirement in 2008, Lee was self-employed in his own real estate consulting business.
In his spare time, Lee was a very avid fly-fisherman. This was a life-long hobby that interested him from when he was eight years old. Lee told many stories about all of the rivers located in exotic places that he had visited such as Kodiak Island, Belize, Patagonia, Tasmania, and the Kola Peninsula, to name a few.
Lee will be remembered as a mentor in fly fishing as well as a loyal and faithful friend. He was always an integral part of the regional trade shows as well as an "expert" among the rod builders.
Lee is survived by his close partner and companion, Rosalia Manfredi, of Philadelphia, and his brother Norbert, sister-in-law Yen, and niece Marcianna, all of Westminster, CA and numerous cousins.
Lee was greatly loved and respected and will be sincerely missed by all who knew him.
The Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, August 4, 2016 at 11:00 AM (followed by the family/friends visitation at 9:30 AM) at St. Philip Neri Church, 437 Ridge Pike, Lafayette Hill, Pa 19444.
