Obituary of Loretta V. Allen

Born in Norristown on July 2, 1926, she was the daughter of the late Elwood and Catharine (nee Hogan) Allen. She was a graduate of Norristown High School, class of 1944, where she was an athlete and participated in many school activities. Loretta was an executive administrative assistant with Conrail in Philadelphia, retiring in 1989 after 45 years of service. Over the years, Loretta enjoyed her volunteer activities with Chestnut Hill Hospital, St. Joseph's Villa in Flourtown, and St. Philip Neri Church in Lafayette Hill, where she was a member for over 40 years. She also participated in numerous activities while living at Foulkeways the last 15 years. Loretta was an avid traveler throughout the United States, Canada, and Europe. However, her most cherished vacations were those she spent with family and friends at Locust Lake in the Poconos. Her love of her faith, family, and friends brought her much joy. She is survived by her loving nieces and nephews: Constance (Thomas) Coyle, Robert Allen, Eileen O'Hara, David O'Hara, Lorie Allen, Barbara (Alan) Hofstad, Marybeth (Joseph) Byrnes, Karen O'Hara, 13 grand nieces and nephews, and 13 great grand nieces and nephews. Loretta was predeceased by her siblings, Gertrude O'Hara, Robert Allen, and Elizabeth Hartlaub; nephew, Edward O'Hara; and the love of her life, her fiancé, James Pequinot. Special thanks to the staff at Foulkeways; in particular, Abington House staff, for their unfailing care and concern for both Loretta and her family. Relatives and friends are invited to celebrate Loretta's life on Friday, March 18, 2016, at St. Philip Neri Church, 437 Ridge Pike, Lafayette Hill. Mass of Christian burial will be at 11 am. Friends may call between 10:00-11:00 am at the church. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family.
