John E. "Jack" Lavin Sr., age 97, of Blue Bell, formerly of Hobe Sound Florida and Lafayette Hill died Friday, March 11, 2016 at Normandy Farms Assisted Living . Jack was born July 27, 1918 in Phila., PA. He is the son of the late John and the late Elizabeth (Steele) Lavin. He was the husband of the late Frances ( Hackett) Lavin who died in 2007. He was an Executive Director at Topps Bubble Gum Co. and former Professional Jazz Musician. Jack was a graduate of Olney High School and attended LaSalle College. He served our County during World War Two in the Army Air Corps in the First Calvary Division and was also the Band Leader. During his career as a professional Jazz Musician he played for the Philadelphia, Washington and New York Orchestra's . In his Candy career, he was the Dean of the Confectionary Industry and was a member of the Candy Hall of Fame. While residing in Lafayette Hill he was a member of Saint Philip Neri Church, The Whitemarsh Lions Club, The William Bolten Dixon VFW Post 10 and the Whitemarsh Valley Country Club. While residing in Hobe Sound Florida, Jack was a member of Saint Christophers Church and the Heritage Ridge Country Club. Most recently while living at Normandy Farms Estates in Blue Bell , he was a member of the Saint Helana's Catholic Church. He is survived by one son: John E. Lavin Jr. (Encarna Rodriguez ) and his Former Daughter In Law, Ursula (McConville) Lavin; 3 Grandchildren-Aislin , Brian And Geraldine. He was predeceased not only by his wife but his siblings- Elizabeth Halloran , FranK Lavin and Rosemary Waterhouse. A Mass of Christian burial will be held 11:30 am on Tuesday, March 15 at Saint Helena Church, 1489 DeKalb Pike, Blue Bell, PA .19422. Burial private . Calling hours will be Tuesday, March 15 from 10:30-11:30am at Saint Helena Church. . Jack was a gradaute of Olney High School and attended LaSalle College.
