Obituary of Wayne L. Homan
Please share a memory of Wayne L. to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Wayne L. Homan, 70, of Conshohocken, passed away on Wednesday, February 24, 2016.
He was born on August 30, 1945 in Philadelphia, PA. He is the son of the late Carl D. Homan, Sr. and the late June E. (Beyer) Homan. He is the husband to the late Mary J. (Kulak) Homan, and father of Christopher and Timothy Homan.
He is a retired carpenter, UBC Local 1595. He was a graduate of Plymouth Whitemarsh High School and attended Montgomery County Community College. He served in the United States Navy on the USS Shangri La.
Wayne was always a spiritual man but in later years he committed his life to Jesus Christ. While Wayne always had a sweet and gentle natured disposition his commitment to Christ brought a new kind of peace and joy and he shared this with everyone he saw. He regularly attended Plymouth Monthly Meeting in Plymouth Meeting, PA.
Wayne had a wide variety of interests and made friends everywhere he went. He was a gifted athlete, playing baseball, football, and softball. In later years he played bocce in several leagues. He coached little league baseball and youth soccer. A lover of the outdoors, he enjoyed hiking, sailing, canoeing, kayaking and being with nature. He played the tenor drums in several drum and bugle corps, including the Bracken Cavaliers and the Reilly Raiders. Wayne learned how to make wine and shared this passion with a group of family and friends. He loved to travel, particularly to Europe and the coast of Maine. The many hobbies and interests he had are a testament to the love and passion he had for life.
Wayne lived his life with kindness, strength, bravery, and a warmth that could be felt instantly. He was an inspiration and a friend to many, treating everyone he met with the same sincere spirit.
Wayne is survived by son Christopher Homan, son Timothy Homan (Bridget), brother Carl "Dan" Homan, Sister Barbara Marino (Lou), brother Thomas Homan (Charlotte), and sister Carol Graney (Tom), deeply loved extended family and scores of friends who deeply mourn our loss.
A memorial service will be held 11:00 AM on Saturday, March 5 at Plymouth Monthly Meeting at the intersection of Germantown Pike and Butler Pike, Plymouth Meeting, PA 19462.
Memorial donations may be made to the Dystonia Medical Research Foundation, 1 East Wacker Drive, Suite 2810, Chicago, IL 60601 (https://www.dystonia-foundation.org/donate)
