Harry F. Varrone, age 91, of Lafayette Hill, PA. died Monday, October 26, 2015 at Chestnut Hill Hospital of Philadelphia, PA.. Mr. Varrone was born April 11, 1924 in Phila., PA. He is the son of the late Emilio and the late Mary (Cerino) Varrone. He is the husband of Ida (Ludovici) Varrone. He was employed by The Neptune Pump Co.in Lansdale as a Tool And Dye Maker and prior to that he worked for the Steel Heddle Co. in Phila.. Mr.Varrone was a graduate of Northeast High School and also attended The University of Penna. Throughout his life, music ,especially Big Band Music, ran through his veins. Harry and his brothers Joe and Tom Varrone founded the Tommy Varrone Orchestra which eventually became the Vibertones. In his later years Harry and a few locals of the Lafayette Hill area put together the Golden Aires Musical Group that would often play at various senior centers and special events in our community .Harry was a guitar player. Mr. Varrone was a World War Two Army Veteran and was a proud member of the Patriotic Sons of America also. He was also a member of the Fox Chase VFW Post and Saint Philip Neri Church in Lafayette Hill. For many years Harry and his family would vacation in Ocean City NJ and often traveled with his wife on cruises etc. Harry was an avid golfer and loved to garden. His pride and joy were his grandsons and great grandchildren. Harry will be sorely missed by his devoted family and many friends. He is survived by his wife: Ida(Ludovici) Varrone two sons: Emil "Neil" Varrone (Faith) of Phila., PA, Harry Varrone (Carol) of Lafayette Hill, PA also 3 grandsons, Nikolas, Joshua and Jeffrey and 2 great grandchildren, Tobias and Allathea. A memorial service will be held 1:00 pm on Saturday, October 31 at Lownes Family Funeral Home, 659 Germantown Pike, Lafayette Hill, PA. Burial will be held privately . Calling hours will be Saturday, October 31 from 11AM-1PM In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Saint Judes Children Research Hospital-501 St.Jude Place, Memphis TN 38105.
