E. Robert Goebel, 85, passed away peacefully at The Hospice of Port Orange on May 10, 2015 with his loved ones by his side. He is preceded in death by his parents, Elmer and Dorothy Goebel, his first wife, Claralee and son Robert, his second wife Verna, and his brother Edward Goebel. He is survived by his wife, Penny, sister Elaine Erickson (Scott), Sanford, NC, sisters-in-law Coralee Dailey (Pacheco, CA) ,Charlotte Goebel (Clarksville, GA ), sons Earl Kopsie (Lynn), Reading, PA, Thomas Kopsie (Joanne), Plymouth Meeting, PA, Peter Goebel (Mary), Oro Valley, AZ, daughters Susan Paolini (Anthony), DeLand, FL, Karen Goodwin, Enfield, CT, Ellen Brown (Darcy), Whately, MA, step-children Jay Updyke (Jannine) Fayetteville, GA, Jane Updyke, Altamonte Springs, FL and Edrianna Stilwell (Jim), Fairview, NC, as well as 16 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. Bob was born on November 6, 1929 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania where he resided for many years before moving to Lafayette Hill, PA to raise his family. He was a born salesman and worked in that capacity his whole life, eventually becoming co-owner of The Lawrence Company before retiring and moving to Florida in 1991. He was a member of the Blue Lodge of Conshohocken, PA, serving as Worshipful Master; President of the Lions Club of Lafayette Hill and a Cub Scout leader and coach of each of his son's Biddy Basketball and Little League teams for years. Bob was the quintessential family man, never missing a child's practice, game, school play, concert or anything else that was important to his family. He was his kid's biggest fan and set an example of how to live an honorable life. One of Bob's greatest joys in life was bringing laughter to others. He was a member and President of the Lulu Temple Shriner's Clown Club for many years. His award winning character, Bloomers, visited nursing homes and children's hospitals where he brought smiles to all who watched him make balloon animals and perform! Bob loved to volunteer his time to others, spend time with his family, laugh and dance. Many a time he was spotted doing the "Mummer's Strut"! Bob was an avid golfer and fisherman, bridge player and undisputed king of "The Goebel Family Heart's" games! He is loved beyond all reason and will be greatly missed by his family and countless friends. The Service of Burial will be Saturday, May 30, 2015 at St. Peter's Lutheran Church, 3025 Church Rd., Lafayette Hill, PA 19444 at 11:30 am. (in the Annex Section of the cemetery- at Ridge Pike and Harts Lane-enter off of Harts Lane) In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Volusia County Hospice (www.hovf.org) or Operation Smile (www.operationsmile.org).
