Sherman L. Barber Obituary

Sherman L. Barber, age 90 of Normandy Farms Estates in Blue Bell PA formerly of Lafayette Hill and Avalon NJ- died Sunday (12/5) at Normandy Farms. He was a Retired Personel Supervisor For Bell Telephone and former secretary treasurer for the Liberty Bell Chapter of the Telephone Pioneers of America. Mr. Barber was born in Green Creek, NJ, the son of the late Harold and the late Olga Nickol Barber. Mr. Barber was a former member of the Saint Peters Lutheran Church in Lafayette Hill and while residing in Avalon NJ he was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church. Currently Mr. Barber was a member of Saint Johns Lutheran Church in Center Square. He was a graduate of Middle Township H.S. where he played football and baseball. After High School he played semi pro baseball and recieved the MVP Connie Mack League award in 1946. He attended Drexel University's nite school for 4 years. He served our country during WW2 in the Army Signal Corps. He was an avid tennnis player and golfer and was a former member of the Wildwood Country Club. He is survived by his wife Mildred( McKeone ) Barber Children- Joan B. Linton (Paul) of Blue Bell and David A. Barber of Annnandale Va. 2 grandchildren- Samantha and Andrew. . Memorial Services will be held Friday 12/10 at 1:00 pm in the The Library Of The Normandy Farms Estates, Blue Bell, Burial will be private in the West Laurel Hill Cemetery, Balacynwyd. In lieu of flowers donation to-The Verizon Telecom Pioneers Liberty Bell Chapter, 1631 Arch St. 12th floor, Phila. Pa. 19103.
