Please share a memory of Ann L. to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Ann L. Simes- Ann, Annie, Mom, Gaga, passed away peacefully on January 30, 2015, moving to a brighter light where she will be welcomed by the Lord joining her husband and our dad, John "Slip" Simes, her father and mother; Herbert "Pop-Pop" and Gladys "GaGa" Lincoln. Devoted mother of Elizabeth "Betsy" (Flourtown PA), David (Albuquerque NM), Kathy and David Becker (Peoria AZ), and Susan and Walter Samylenko (Brookfield CT) and grandmother of Jeffrey (Boston MA) and Sullivan (Albuquerque NM). Ann was born in Darien, CT, completed Radnor High School in Wayne, PA and graduated from Endicott College in Endicott, NY. Ann, John and family resided in Lafayette Hill, PA. Ann held a strong commitment to participate in charitable and community causes.. She served on the Ladies Auxiliary Committee at the Pennsylvania Hospital for over 10 years. Ann also volunteered on Election Day at the voting polls for over 20 years. She taught Sunday School and served as the Sunday School Superintendent for 15 years at the Presbyterian Church of Chestnut Hill. She also served as an elder, deacon and on various committees. The Church bazaars were a special love for her. Later in life, Ann worked at the Colonial School District at the middle school for 10 years in the Library and retired in 1996. Mom had a unique capacity to love each of her children and grandchildren in an equal and very different manner. We, the children, feel so blessed. Our relationship will continue forever. Our lives are so much brighter for her having been "Mom". Mom aged with dignity, improving like a fine wine. She managed life no matter what came her way; life did not manage her. Mom was a splendid life teacher guiding us through life. She was "sharp as a tack" and was the family champion in word jumbles, cryptograms and the crossword puzzles. Mom was brilliant at staying current, always abreast of what was happening in the world. Spurred by Arnold Palmer, she became a PGA golf enthusiast. Inspired by her children, she became a "Fightin" Phillies fan. Maintaining her own Sports Illustrated subscription to connect and remain knowledgeable. Ann's love for others and life will be greatly missed by her friends, family, loved ones and all who benefited from knowing her. The family would like to thank the Artman Lutheran Home in Ambler, PA for their quality care, security and compassion provided to our mother. The memorial service for Ann L Simes will be on Saturday, May 2, 2015, 2:00 PM at the Presbyterian Church of Chestnut Hill 8855 Germantown Pike (right next to Chestnut Hill Hospital). A reception will follow the service in Widener Hall. The Simes family thanks you for all your kind words, thoughts and sentiments at this time.
