Obituary of Frank W. Salemno

Frank W. Salemno, age 91 of Chestnut Hill and Lafayette Hill,Pa. died Sunday (4/27) at his daughters home in Egg Harbor, NJ.where he resided for the past 16 months. He was a Self Employed Barber and owner of Franks Barber Shop in Chestnut Hill,Phila. Mr. Salemno was born in Phila., PA, the son of the late Carmen and the late Marie Viulandi Salemno. Husband of the late Mary (Worrall) Salemno who died in 2001. Frank was a graduate of Germantown High School. Following school he served his Country during World War 2 in the Marine Corps 4th Division in which he was very proud of. Frank saw quite a bit of action during his service in Japan and recieved several Bronze Stars along with 2 Purple Hearts and 2 Presidential Citations and various medals too. Frank was very active as a long time business man in the Chestnut Hill area where cut hair in his barber shop for over 70 years. Frank was a member of the Chestnut Hill Business Assn. The Barbers Assn. of Phila. and for years took a lead part in the annual Christmas and 4th of July parades. He will be sorely missed by his loving family and many friends and long time customers that he truely loved. He is survived by one daughter: Mary Ann Ravert (Bill) of Egg Harbor, NJ one son: Carmen Salemno (Cathy) of Benton, PA two sisters: Mary Capece, Rose DiPinto two brothers: Domenick Salemno, Carmen Salemno 7 Grandchildren,5 Great Grandchildren, He was predeceased by his daughter Frances Romito. Friends may call Monday May 5,2014 from 9:30-11AM at Saint Philip Neri Church, 437 Ridge Pike, Lafayette Hill, PA.. Funeral mass will be held at 11:00 am Burial will be in the George Washington Memorial Park, . Contributions may be made to American Cancer Society.
