John B. "Jack"Hoffman, age 66 of Whitemarsh Twp.., died Wednesday (4/9) in the Christianna Care Hospital,Newark,DE. after a long illness., .
He was The Director of Code Enforcement for Plymouth Twp.and former Witemarsh Twp. Police Detective.
Mr. Hoffman was born in Phila., PA, the son of the late Bernard and the late Marion Baker Hoffman.
Jack was a graduate of the Plymouth Whitemarsh High School and upon graduation he entered the US Army serving in the Vietnam War. When Jack returned from his service he attended Temple Univ. for Criminal Justice.
Jack was a Life Member of the Harmonville and Barren Hill Volunteer Fire Companies. At Harmonville, Jack was a past Vice President and Deputy Chief and Engineer and at Barren Hill ,he was a past President and former Assistant Chief. He also served as a Deputy Fire Marshall for Plymouth Twp. and Whitemarsh Twp.
Besides his volunteer services ,Jack was a Whitemarsh Twp. Police Officer for over 32 years retiring as a Detective.
Jack was a member of F.O.P. Lodge #5 along with American Legion Post #10 in Ft. Washington. He was also a member of the Montgomery County Fire Chiefs Assn. and Plymouth Ambulance Assn. Jack coached Whitemarsh Twp. Little League Baseball along with Girls and Boys Basketball teams.
He loved to vacation with his family at the shore in Sea Isle City and also fish and have fun on his boat. He also enjoyed camping.
Jack will be sorely missed by his loving family and his many friends along with his community and fellow volunteers.
He is survived by his wife- Barbara (Speers) Hoffman
two daughters: Melissa H. Guarino (Joe) of Lafayette Hill, PA, Jennifer M. Hoffman of Phila., PA
one son: John B. Hoffman II of Whitemarsh Twp., PA
three sisters: Marnie Gibson of Coatesville, PA, Cathy Wagner of Warminster, PA, Donna Carbone of N. Wales, PA
one brother: James Hoffman of Lansdale, PA

Friends may call Sunday 4/ 13/2014 from 6-8pm at Saint Philip Neri Church, 437 Ridge Pike, Lafayette Hill, PA. and Monday 4/14/2014 from 10-11am at Saint Philip Neri Church, 437 Ridge Pike, Lafayette Hill, PA..
Funeral mass will be held at 11:00 am officiating.
Burial will be in the Barren Hill Cemetery, Lafayette Hill.
