Dwight H Heasty, age 90, passed away on March 26, 2014 in Philadelphia, PA. He was preceded in death last year by his loving wife of 66 years, Gwendolyn. He is survived by six children, Richard, Lois King, Allan, Melvin (Mel), Jeanne Rosenberger, Patricia Fries, 10 grandchildren, and 9 great grandchildren. He was a loving father who, with Gwendolyn, raised six well-adjusted children in Oxon Hill MD, and instilled his Midwestern values in his family. He later moved to Richmond, VA and then to Philadelphia, PA. He was born and raised in Kansas, and graduated from Pittsburg State University. He served in WWII as an officer in the US Navy aboard an LST in the Pacific. He worked for many years with RCA as an electrical engineer until his retirement in 1984. He worked for Eldyne Inc. for 12 years as an electromagnetic engineer and was the foremost expert and father of the Navy Radiation Hazard program. After his retirement, he became a renowned RCA memorabilia collector and was a charter member of the National Capital Radio and Television Museum in Bowie MD, where he served on the Board of Directors, designed and built museum displays, served as a tour guide, and managed volunteers. A private memorial will be held.
