Charles,
I am glad you and I (Brint) met for lunch very recently. How ironic that we spoke of longevity as we talked about your mom's recent passing. Gracie and I will miss you. R.I.P. old friend.

Charles' sudden death has really hit me hard. I always felt loved and accepted by him. He never criticized me and was always happy to see me. We had a strong emotional and intellectual attachment that began when we were 16 and 17. He was pleased by any attention I gave him, laughed at my jokes, and was always very affectionate. I start to cry every time I think that I will never be able to talk to him again. I've had his love and support for fifty years. Somehow I never imagined that I would have to do without it.
My memories were of Charles grandmother Freda Widmaier Retter. We were the Colorado Widmaiers who Charlie and his family came to see. Charlie and I exchanged genealogy information with one another. It was too bad that we weren't close enough in miles to visit.
I can see that he did great things with his life and will be sadly missed by his brothers and their families.
Much sympathy,
Judi Widmaier
I worked with Charlie at Data General. I always enjoyed our conversations -- he was a great colleague and extremely intelligent, which made our conversations interesting. So sad to hear of his death, I'll miss him.
I just discovered, on 12/22/2019 that Charlie passed years ago. Curiously, I have tried for several years on and off to locate the guy I loved working with back at Gaertner Research for 3 years. I was in my twenties and he was a real inspiration. We worked closely and I found him to be one of the most brilliant engineers that I have ever worked with. I am so sorry we never reconnected.
Rest in Peace, my friend.
