Obituary of George W. Kownacki

George W. Kownacki, age 77 of Lafayette Hill formerly of Roxborough, died Friday (9/27) at his residence in Lafayette Hill, PA. He was a retired Systems Analyst For Peco Mr. Kownacki was born in Phila., Pa, the son of the late George Sr. and the late Pauline Shockey Kownacki . Mr. Kownacki was a graduate ,class of 1954 from Roxborough High School where he was active in gymnastics later he went on to graduate and received his B.S. degree from West Chester University in Mathematics in 1965. While growing up George was always at the Jersey Shore with his family and became involved with the Wildwood Beach Patrol serving first as a mascot at very young age, then finally a full Life Guard. George also was involved with Karate and the LaSalle Univ. Karate Club and thru the years won numerous awards for various competitions. He volunteered for many years for the North Light Boys and Girls Club. He also was an avid golfer and bridge player. He is survived by his wife Janice J.(DeHaven) Kownacki one daughter: Dawn M. Kownacki of Plymouth Meeting, PA. one brother: Roland C. Kownacki of Lansdale, PA grandson, Mark F. Devlin III (Mary); grandaughter, Lauren K. Wanner (Don); Great Grandson, Donnie Wanner; Great Grandson, Dean Wanner Friends may call Tuesday 10/1 from 10-11am at Saint Philip Neri Church, 437 Ridge Pike, Lafayette Hill, PA.. Memorial mass will be held at 11:00 am officiating. Burial will be private Contributions may be made to Keystone Hospice ,8765 Stenton Ave. Wyndmoor,Pa. 19038 for the loving care George received. Funeral arrangements are by the Lownes Family Funeral Home of Lafayette Hill.
