Around 20 years ago, I traveled to Philadelphia for the first time to meet the Baran family & friends. Meghan Baran & I had just begun dating. As part of this quick visit, I had the pleasure of meeting Courtney & Michael Baran. Meghan & I were treated to a lively, local Mexican restaurant. Michael insisted on picking up the tab. One of the many memories that I have of Michael is how thoughtful & accommodating he was on this night. He was easily the center of attention without even trying. He made us all laugh routinely throughout the night with his quick wit & unique perspectives. I spent many more occasions getting to know Michael and the one thing that always stayed consistent was how kind he was towards me and the others around him. My family, my two boys... Michael could pull a smile out of anyone at any time and would effortlessly set the room at ease. I will forever be grateful that I had the chance to meet and get to know such a wonderful person. I will miss him deeply, as so many others already do. Much love to Michael & those of us feeling his tremendous absence. I will always hold a special place for Michael & never forget that beautiful smile.
