Obituary of Vincent G. Schaeffer

Please share a memory of Vincent to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Vincent George Schaeffer, beloved husband, father, and grandfather, passed away suddenly, on November 30, 2024, at the age of 81.

Born in Pennsylvania, Vince was raised in the Overbrook section of Philadelphia and lived in Plymouth Meeting with his wife Barbara of 56 years.

Vince spent much of his career in the transportation industry. He worked for the Pennsylvania Railroad – where Barbara had once been a hole punch operator – then became a ticket agent for United Airlines, and then a sales representative with Northeast Airlines. When Northeast was bought by Delta, Vince became a sports team account representative, arranging travel for the Eagles, Phillies, and Flyers.

Vince cherished spending time with his family, including his 3 grand dogs, playing golf, listening to music, doing crossword puzzles and sending endless dog and monkey TikTok videos to his kids and grandkids. Vincent and Andrea knew they could always count on their dad. His grandchildren loved his sense of humor, listening to stories from the ‘olden days’, and the countless TikTok videos, of course.

Vince took his family and punctuality extremely seriously; however, he never took himself too seriously. He will always be fondly remembered for his ability to make fun of himself and to show up in whatever he felt like that day – be it pink sneakers and a visor with fake hair or one of his many shirts proclaiming his love for dogs, his German heritage, or his pride in his service in the army. He was truly one of a kind and has left us with a lifetime of stories. Vince was also known to have many unique and fleeting interests. Feel free to ask his family about Michael Flatley, Indian war chants, boats leaving the inlet, or shuffle dances – all of which we watched hours upon hours on YouTube.

Vince is survived by his loving wife, Barbara, his children, Vince (Sharon) and Andrea (Tina), his three grandchildren, Sophie, Caden and Ella, his sister Ruthann and sister-in-law Dorothy. He is also survived by his grand dogs – his beloved and loyal Finny, the gentle giant Mikey and the incorrigible Bowie. He joins loved ones who went before him, including his parents, Vincent and Ruth and brothers, Stratton (Mickie) and Lamar (Betty Jane) and brothers-in-law, Elmer and John.

Vince has left an indelible mark on everyone who crossed his path and he will truly be missed.
