Obituary of P. Keith Keenan
P. Keith Keenan
1951-2024
Paul Keith Keenan, 73 of Norristown, passed away on December 1, 2024, after a short and courageous battle with cancer. Keith was born June 6, 1951, to the late John Russell Keenan, Jr. and Margaret (nee Breen) Keenan of Philadelphia. Keith was the sixth of the nine Keenan children from a traditional Irish Catholic family. Keith is survived by his sisters Mary Keenan and Helen “Doll” Szymczak (James), his brother Daniel Bryan Keenan, all of Florida, 14 nieces and nephews, 29 great nieces and nephews, and 9 great-great nieces and nephews. Keith was preceded in death by his sisters Barbara Horace (James), Patricia Ward (Thomas) and Margaret Keenan, his Brothers John Russell Keenan, III (Margaret) and Kevin Keenan (Mary).
Keith is a graduate of Bishop Neumann High School and Temple University. After graduating high school and before entering college, Keith entered the Daylesford Abbey in Chester County and studied to become a Norbetine priest. After a few years, Keith left the ministry and completed college. Always one to sing and dance, Keith pursued his dream of performing on the big stage, moving to New York and performing on and off Broadway and around New York for ten years. Seeking a steadier family/work life balance, Keith entered the workforce in New York City, transferred to Charlotte, NC, before settling back in the Philadelphia area in Norristown to be closer to his extended family.
Keith enjoyed spending time with his family and was quick to brag about all the accomplishments of the extended Keenan Clan. Keith enjoyed knowing about and sharing information on all his nieces and nephews and was extremely excited to meet the four future nieces or nephews that will arrive in the Spring of 2025.
In his spare time Keith would research the Keenan Family Ancestry, becoming an expert at navigating Ancestry websites and public information material that is tied to his family tree.
Family and Friends are invited to greet family on Tuesday, January 7, 2025, at 11:00 AM, at the Lownes Funeral Home.
