I am one of the many Templeton cousins! (Tom and Edie's daughter). I am so glad I got to see Mark in July (along with Marie, Mick and Lorie) when we went to lunch in King of Prussia. Mark had so many stories to share with us, and we all enjoyed his posts on Facebook over the last few years. We know he never got over the loss of his Christine and is no doubt happy to be with her now but missing Fiona! Young Mark., I never realized you live in Somers Point. Ocean City is my favorite place but I am married to a man who hates the beach! (Crazy, no?) so I don't get there often. Living in North Carolina doesn't help either. Next time I do I will have to find a way to find you! My husband Paul and I extend our heartfelt sympathy to you and your sisters and all the family. Little Fiona must be finding it hard to accept and understand. We feel bad about missing the funeral. I sent a note to Marie and Pat so maybe word will spread from there. God bless you and comfort you. Judie Templeton Kindig

Mr. Mac had a significant influence on my life as a young man. He encouraged me and taught me how to push through when the swimming got tough. Somehow he managed to make the sport of swimming fun! I will miss you Mr. Mac. Thanks for being a friend. My condolences to Mark, Kitt, Cassie and the rest of the family. I'm sorry for this big loss and Im glad you had such a loving dad all of these years. God bless you.

I will always remember your dad. It feels like only yesterday when we chatted after your mother passed away. Time goes by so fast. It was just last week that I mentioned your dad in class. I said he would be so surprised that I make so many speeches considering how shy I was in his class. It also feels like yesterday when I was asking my brother David about your family right next door. I will always remember your dad with kindness. Paul

I was shocked and saddened to learn of Mark’s sudden passing, and want Mark. Jr., Kit, and Cassie to know that I have many great memories of both Mark and Tina. From summertime pinochle games that lasted until the wee hours of the morning to lengthy discussions on topics of religion, education, or philosophy, Mark relished the lively exchange of ideas!
You were fortunate to have him as your father! May you find comfort in the memories he created for each of you! Burt H.

Joe (Snow) Sosnowski- I have known Coach Mac since I was little. He was my first swim coach and help develop my love of the sport. I swam for him on the AAU program during grade, middle, high school, college days and after I graduated. He was also a great teacher throughout my high school days. He nominated me for the Good Citizenship Award given by the Union League in which I was presented with. I have that honor and medal in my office today. Thank you Coach Mac!! May God Bless you. Rest in Peace.

Mr. Mac is the reason I was able to graduate from high school. When Methacton High School wouldn’t allow me to opt out of swim class and decided to fail me because as a black student I was unable to do my hair in time for my next class, Mr. Mac stood up for me. And then again as a student with undiagnosed social anxiety when I was unable to fulfill the requirements of a public speaking class, he stood up for me again.
He created a summer class for me where he taught me both swimming and public speaking privately so that I could graduate.
He was a gift to me and to this world and will be deeply missed.
Deirdre Murray - class of ‘94

Mr. Mac was a special person to me as he was my coach, teacher and family friend. I learned so much from him over the years and always looked up to him. I had not seen him in many years until my father’s surprise 80th birthday party a few moths ago. It was great to spend time with him that night as I remembered how much he shaped my early years and how much he meant to me. So fortunate to see him one last time. Rest in peace coach.

Mike Coble……I have known and worked with Mac for 50 years. On our many phone calls and ride sharing trips to swim meets we had lots of time to talk. Mark did most of the talking and I the listening. !!!!!!! But, he always asked about my family and how I was doing. When my parents died his sympathies were very genuine. RIP Mr Mac. There will always be a place for you on the pool deck.

There are many more heroes in this world than people realize. Marc was one of my heroes. He was a great swim coach, he was a great leader, and he was a great English teacher. He came to visit us a few years ago, and we had a great time talking about our high school days and some of the funny things that had happened. He was a kind man, and a very understanding man. We’ve kept in touch over the years through Facebook messaging, and he always had my back when I havehad down times. He will be Missed by so many people, rightfully so. My condolences to the whole family for losing such a great man unexpectedly.
Best wishes,
Mike Westwood

Alan and I have such wonderful memories of Mr. Mac. We not only remember him as a teacher, but Alan remembers him as his swim coach and I remember him as part of my dad‘s (Mr. McConnell) group of fellow teachers from Methacton. We are so grateful that we had the opportunity to visit him twice in the past few years. The memories that Mark and Alan shared during those visits were wonderful to hear.
Our condolences,
Marty McConnell Parker

Words cannot express how I feel about this man. He was a dedicated swim coach, a mentor, and a father figure to thousands of kids he coached during his time with Methacton Swim Club. Those positive memories will be forever engrained in my heart and my mind. I'm not sure where I'd be in this world had it have not been for swimming and coach Mark McElwee. Thank you for everything Coach Mac.

I'm grateful for Mark's friendship - at Methacton Community Theater and Methacton School District. I'm especially grateful that my husband, Mark, and I got to have dinner with him at his favorite place, The Collegeville Diner, just last week.
Our deepest sympathy and condolences go to his family, of whom he spoke quite often.
