Obituary of J Brooks Caulk Jr
It is with profound sadness that we share the passing of J. Brooks Caulk Jr. who left to be with The Lord at the age of 72 on Tuesday, October 15, 2024. Brooks passed in the comfort of his Pennsylvania home holding the very hand he vowed to never let go of, that of his dear wife.
Born on November 5, 1952 in Ruxton, MD, Brooks was the oldest sibling of seven children in a household that never wavered from true family values and quality time spent together. Brooks often reminisced about family sailing voyages on the Sassafras River and Chesapeake Bay, family camping trips, family meals after Sunday Mass and most holidays, and of course, the Annual Gutberlet Family Picnic. From grade school through high school and some years later, Brooks remained competitive in swimming, diving, as well as his favorite sport to play, lacrosse. His career focused around the construction trade which led him to uncovering his true talent as an architectural draftsman, helping redesign well known buildings such as the Kimmel Center in Philadelphia, PA.
After marrying his wife in November of 1980, Brooks was dedicated to supporting their shared dog grooming and equestrian businesses. Campaigning throughout many dog show and horse show circuits, Brooks found much fulfillment, success and joy in all of his partnership with his wife while never missing their son’s sporting events. Clearly, family was paramount!
A faithful and beloved husband to Kate Caulk, loving and supporting father to Jack Brooks Caulk III and proud grandfather to Charlotte “Charlie” Caulk. Son of the late Jack B Caulk and Charlotte Caulk (Gutberlet) and brother to the late Heidi Caulk Jordan. Brooks is survived by his loving siblings, Julie Caulk Shortall (Gary), Georgiann Caulk Tracy (Ken), Melissa McPeake (John), Jenny McKinlay (Chuck), and Stephen Caulk (Diana). Every aunt, uncle, cousin, niece, and nephew of his were all equally as loved and appreciated.
