Obituary of Mary Lou Weber

Please share a memory of Mary Lou to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Mary Louise (Mary Lou) Weber of Skippack, PA passed peacefully into eternal rest on October 11, 2024, with her family by her side.

Mary Lou was born to Bernard and Mary Ward on March 15, 1939, in Philadelphia, PA.

Mary Lou was raised in Germantown, PA and spent summers at her family’s summer home in Somers Point, NJ.  The former St. Francis of Assisi in Germantown was Mary Lou’s parish and grade school.  She graduated from Little Flower High School and Gwynedd Mercy College.  At Gwynedd Mercy, she earned an Associate of Arts degree and became a polished bridge player, a skill she retained throughout her life.

Following college, Mary Lou began work with General Electric and Lockheed Martin in King of Prussia and Washington DC.  Secrets from her employment days remained secrets to the end.

After retiring, Mary Lou enjoyed traveling throughout the United States and abroad with family and friends.  She cherished summers in Ocean City and brought the experience and love of the shore to her grandchildren.

Mary Lou’s passion for sports was something she shared not only with her children, but with others. Teaching gym at Epiphany of Our Lord, coaching volleyball, T-ball, basketball, and softball was a thrill, but nothing was more of an experience than driving the whole team to games in the big blue station wagon.  She was always eager to see her Philadelphia teams play and readily spoke about players, statistics, and wins and losses with anyone who wanted to talk sports including grandchildren.  As her children grew older, golf and tennis became a passion.

Mary Lou’s kindness, wisdom, humor, smile and beautiful bright blue eyes will be sadly missed.

Mary Lou was preceded in death by her parents Mary and Bernard Ward, and husband Drew.  Mary Lou is survived by her children Mimi (Art) Flynn of Darien, CT, Andrew Weber of Plymouth Meeting, PA and Lizanne (Jake) Kelly of Berwyn, PA, along with grandchildren Ronan, Charlie, Neil, Maura, Jack, and George, loving nieces and nephews, and her sister Bernadette.

The family will receive friends at Epiphany of Our Lord Church 3050 Walton Road, Plymouth Meeting, PA on Thursday, October 17 from 9:30-10:30 a.m. followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, gifts may be made to Little Flower High School 1000 W. Lycoming Street, Philadelphia, PA 19140 or the Tunnel to Towers Foundation in Mary Lou’s name.
