Obituary of Edward J. Pupkiewicz Jr
Edward Joseph Pupkiewicz Jr., 54, of Worcester, Pennsylvania, passed away on June 3, 2024, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
Ed was born in Norristown, Pennsylvania to Edward and Phyllis Pupkiewicz on March 12, 1970. He attended Plymouth Whitemarsh High School and was a proud graduate of the University of Vermont in Burlington, Vermont earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering. His early career in the Electronic Connector industry included travel to China, Brazil, and many locations in Europe. On these trips he took every opportunity to experience unique local cuisine and shared the good company of co-workers, building memorable experiences along the way. As a skilled and creative Mechanical Engineer, Ed authored and co-authored six US Patents.
In the later part of his twenty-five-year career, he worked in the Machinery and Consumer Goods industries. As his expertise broadened outside of Engineering, his leadership roles expanded to include Quality, Supply Chain and Customer Service. His last role was as Vice President of Operations at a lawn and garden product manufacturer. In all of his roles, Ed was most gratified to have the opportunity to mentor and support those he worked with.
Ed was never content with downtime. He was always up to date on the latest scores and Philly sports teams action. During his time in college, he spent many hours fly-fishing, ice-fishing and hunting in Vermont. He shared his love of skiing with family and friends on the East coast and West coast of North America, as well as Europe. As an Engineer, no one appreciated a well-made machine like he did. He enjoyed riding motorcycles, as well as watching motorsports ranging from the World of Outlaws Sprint Car racing to the Indy 500 or keeping up with the latest F1 racing results with his Father-in-Law. Ed readily embraced a competitive challenge and could not resist a game of softball, pickleball, Xbox gaming or trivia. His favorite part of all of these hobbies was the opportunity to share a connection with family, friends and friends he didn’t know yet.
Family trips to Walt Disney World as a child with his parents, grandmother, sister and family friends later grew to include his wife, daughter and niece. Every trip down to Florida created many memories and stories to be told and retold.
Ed was a caregiver and advocate for family or friends in need of help without hesitation. Ed could be counted on to handily replace the missing screw in your sunglasses, stay with you in the ER waiting room for hours, or stop to help a stranger replace a flat tire on the side of the road. Those who knew and loved Ed will find his role in their life difficult to fill. As a father, husband, brother, uncle, son-in-law, brother-in-law, or friend, he will never leave our hearts.
Ed is survived by his wife Patricia and daughter Kristina of Worcester, Pennsylvania, his sister Beth Lake of Paoli, Pennsylvania and his niece Ashleigh Lake of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He is preceded in death by his parents Edward and Phyllis Pupkiewicz of Plymouth Meeting, Pennsylvania.
A funeral mass will be held at 11am on Saturday June 15th at Epiphany of Our Lord Church, 3050 Walton Road, Plymouth Meeting, PA 19462. A visitation will be held at the church before the funeral mass from 9:30am to 11:00 am.
