John David Edwards of Roxborough, PA passed away on May 14, 2024, at the age of 85. Born in Wilkes-Barre, PA he was the son of John Paul and Anna Gage Edwards. John graduated from high school in Houston, Texas in 1958. Following high school, he received a full scholarship and graduated from Rice University in Houston, Texas.

In the early 1970’s, a new social worker group called Youth Conservation Services placed area youth workers throughout Philadelphia in communities to stem rising juvenile gang violence. John’s thirty-three years with the city of Philadelphia Department of Human Services saw rise to the area youth work. Supervisor with Support Community Outreach Program (SCOP) from which John “David” retired, first. Serving in Northwest, more notably supervising South Philadelphia and lastly helping fund community groups throughout.

John was married to Serita Edwards for 45 years. He is predeceased by his parents and brother, Paul Gage Edwards. John is survived by his wife, Serita Edwards; his sister, RuthAnn Tosi and her husband Peter Tosi; niece, Sara Luckus and her husband Jason Luckus; niece, Lisa Ruscitti and her husband Kevin Ruscitti and their three children Sophia, Owen and Jackson. John “David” believed in the saving grace of Jesus Christ, eternal life, and the forgiveness of sins.
