Quentin G. Monte Jr Obituary

Quentin George Monte, Jr., 99, (Dec. 4, 1924 - Feb. 28, 2024) passed into heaven on Wednesday February, 28, 2024 in Crossroads Hospice Care at Jefferson Lansdale Hospital.

Just months shy of 100 years on this earth, Quentin chose to put himself into hospice care on Monday and was with his lifelong love, Mary Sue, by Wednesday evening. He was happy with his decision and excited to move on. We will miss him, but are blessed to have been part of his journey. He is survived by his 6 children: Quentin III and Sherre Monte, Lawrence Monte, Holly Ann and John Loughran, Chris and Libby Monte, Marrielle and Luis Canales, and Tara Jeanne Monte, 7 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.

Quentin was the son of Quintino and Clorinda Montonario and was raised in Downingtown, PA. He graduated from Villanova University and was honorably discharged from the U.S. Army after WWII. A full-fledged member of Mensa, Quentin was forever inventing and creating ways to do things more efficiently.

He met Mary Sue, his wife of over 60 years, at vocal school where they both studied opera. Quentin went on to perform with Opera Philadelphia, notably as the Judge in Lucia di Lammermoor. He loved to sing and was proud of his accomplishments.

At 60 years old, after working for 20+ employers, Quentin started his own business and within 6 months, he had the beach house in Ocean City, NJ that he always dreamed of owning. Mere steps from the beach, he spent many days and nights pondering the vast Atlantic Ocean.

In his later years, he cared for Mary Sue until she entered into eternal life in December 2020.

Services will be coordinated by the Lownes Family and will be held at St. Phillip Neri Church, 437 Ridge Pike in Lafayette Hill, PA on Friday, March 8th, 2024. Viewing 10-11 AM. Mass at 11 a.m.
