Obituary of Madeleine C McKeon

Madeleine Costello McKeon (nee Butler) of Blue Bell PA and formerly of Lafayette Hill peacefully entered eternal life on February 23, 2024.

Wife of Thomas S. McKeon, former wife of Edward J. Costello (deceased).  

Daughter of Elizabeth and David Butler.  Preceded in death by her siblings, Elizabeth B. McGrath and David Butler.  Survived by her loving children Edward J. Costello(Jean), 

Kathy Donovan(Kevin) and Liz Costello.

Also survived by 6 stepchildren(spouses), 20 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. 

She was first generation Irish, proud of her Irish heritage and shared her love of her Irish culture with pride.  She was an honors graduate of Little Flower High School in Philadelphia, fiercely committed to the Lord and her Catholic faith.

She enjoyed a career in law working as a legal secretary for Dechert, Price and Rhoads.  Married Edward Costello in 1959, raised three loving children and was an active member in the Lafayette Hill community.  

Upon the passing of her beloved husband Ed (27 years) Madeleine was blessed to reconnect with a Holy Cross grade school classmate, Thomas McKeon, married in 1989 and enjoyed 34 years of marriage.  Traveled extensively, especially treasured her visits to Hawaii and Bermuda.  Madeleine looked forward to celebrating her August birthday in Avalon each year, but mostly she enjoyed sharing time with her family.

Madeleine had a wonderful way of decorating for the holidays, flower arranging, and she knew every flower under the sun. She was an avid crossword puzzler and exquisite dresser. 

When her grandchildren think of their Nana, they remember her for her brilliant sense of humor, gift of storytelling, and the genuine love she had for them all.
