Obituary of Marie A Donato

Marie Ann Donato (nee D’Alessandro) 93, of Plymouth Meeting, PA passed away peacefully on November 25, 2023. Marie is remembered as a loving wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

Marie was preceded in death by her husband Anthony James “Jimmy” in 2001.  She is survived by her four children James Donato (Donna) of Mount Laurel, NJ, Sharon (Jim) Brennan of Glenside, PA, Robert Donato of Williamsport, PA and Marie (Jeffrey) Bill of Ambler, PA. She was a very proud MomMom to Torey Tishler, Wesley Bill, Robert Donato, Rex Donato, Casey Bill, Brian Donato, Alexis Donato, and Madeline Bill. She was the Great Grandmom to Lucia, Ace, Layana, Gianni, James and Elijah.

Marie was the youngest of five children Peter, Anne, Nicholas and Frankie.  

Marie was a 1948 Conshohocken High School graduate, who loved spending time with her “kids”, shopping, gardening, casino bus trips, Frank Sinatra and the comforts of her home. She was an avid baker, very proud of having won many awards in the Times Herald cooking contests.  During her time as a salesperson at Bradlees department store, she loved nothing more than purchasing beautiful gifts for her grandchildren. She was a very stylish dresser always taking pride in the way she looked and was made TikTok famous with the viral video of the opening of the green suitcase preserved with her honeymoon outfits (PEOPLE Magazine Article). Marie found solace in saying the rosary.  Her faith was a strong base in her life.

A visitation will be held on Friday, December 1, 2023 from 9:00am – 10:00am at St. Paul’s Roman Catholic Church on 2007 New Hope Street, Norristown, PA 19401 with mass immediately following at 10:00am.  Burial will be at St. Patrick’s Cemetery located on 2300 DeKalb Pike, Norristown PA.

In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations made to the Meals on Wheels organization, who helped Marie in so many ways.
