Obituary of Richard L Tschopp

Please share a memory of Richard to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Richard (Dick) Lawrence Tschopp 85, of Plymouth Meeting PA, passed away peacefully at home on September 8th due to complications from lung cancer. Family members present throughout the final days and nights provided love, comfort, and companionship.

Dick was born to Elias Russell and his wife Ethelyn V. (Nee Bolig) Tschopp on January 26, 1938 in Bethlehem PA.

After finishing school Dick worked construction his entire life. So skilled at resolving mechanical issues he reestablished the boundaries between engineering, design, and actual construction. He was the ultimate unapologetic ‘answer man’ to all those fortunate enough to work with him. A master of all trades and longtime member of Local 542 Operating Engineers (heavy equipment) Union.

In 1968, Dick met and soon thereafter married Tamara Sheronas Biddle (deceased 2003) of Whitemarsh PA.

Dick is survived by 2 stepchildren Linda S. Cooper (Terry F. Cooper) of Harleysville, Tobias Lee Biddle (Wadia S. Biddle) of Plymouth Meeting, as well as younger brother Terry Tschopp (Ida Tschopp) of Conshohocken.

Richard had 7 grandchildren: E. Chase Cooper (Rachel), Katelyn McNamara (Ryan), Tamara Cantu (Aaron), Tyler Biddle, Tyrese Timazee, Sheree Timazee and Zachary Brokenbough. Great grandchildren include Madison Cooper, Meadow McNamara, Summer McNamara, Navy Cooper and Nova Knox.

Over the decades Mr. Tschopp devoted much of his time to the betterment of Barren Hill Fire Company and the many men and women who served there. His best friend at time of death was neighbor Bucky Swider, who currently serves as Barren Hill Fire Company’s Battalion Chief.

We will never forget this exceptional man who greatly impacted and deeply touched the lives of those he called family and friends.
