Obituary of Joan F Caldwell
Joan F. Caldwell of Blue Bell passed away 6/26/23. She was the loving wife of Donald J. Caldwell, who passed in 2017.
Joan, born in Chicago, Illinois, was the daughter of the late John and Anne Frank.
She was a graduate of Melrose Academy and Centenary Jr College. An avid swimmer, she was selected to be an alternate in the Summer Olympics.
After being a flight attendant for United Airlines, Joan was very involved in the National Charity Organization Clipped Wings, which supported the Special Olympics.
She also worked as an administrative assistant for the district court and Keneseth Israel, both in Cheltenham Township.
She was preceded in death by her brother Harry Schmidt of Kentucky. Survivors include her children Lance Sweigart (Laurel), Kristin Richter, Barbara Dunn (Angelo), Laura Walton (John), Brien Caldwell (Mary Theresa), Leah DiPasquale (Andrew), and Megan Caldwell. In addition, Joan had many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Friends and family are invited to call between 10-11:00 am on Saturday July 1, 2023 at St. Philip Neri Church, 437 Ridge Pike, Lafayette Hill, PA 19446. Mass and Burial will follow immediately.
As red was Joan’s favorite color, we ask those attending the service to wear a ‘pop’ of red to celebrate her as the firecracker we will always remember.
In lieu of flowers, we ask donations be made in Joan’s memory to Keystone House, 8765 Stenton Ave. Wyndmoor, PA 19038.
