I’ve learned a lot about Grant after reading the stories others have shared. One common theme is his enthusiasm for life and nature. Grant and I would usually see each other as we worked in our backyards. A conversation with Grant was insightful, funny, and wide-ranging. One thing a conversation with Grant wasn’t was short. He loved to engage, not just talk. I sometimes caught myself wondering how I was going to get my to-do list done as he talked about his bees, the Wissahickon, or any number of subjects.
Every neighborhood is richer and better with a neighbor like Grant. With that said, I’d get nothing done if everyone was like Grant. ;) He is and will be missed.

Grant truly love living. In the last couple of years I got a chance to speak to Grant often as he took his daily walks around the neighborhood. Never did a conversation end that I was not amazed by his knowledge and perspective on the topic of our discussion. I loved talking to him. He deepened my appreciation for the natural world, trees, wildlife, plants, the Wissahickon valley. I didn’t know Grant for very long, but he leaves an impression on me as if I knew him for much longer.
