James W. Davis, residing at the Masonic Village at Lafayette Hill, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, March 1st, 2023 at the age of 91, surrounded by his family.   Born to Leroy and Julia Davis in 1931 in Norristown, PA., he spent his childhood in Philadelphia and graduated from Central H.S. in 1949.

Jim was a celebrated athlete in high school lettering in football, baseball and wrestling and was selected to attend a nationally recognized music academy in Interlocken, MI for his outstanding trumpet skills.  He graduated from Lehigh University with a degree in Mechanical Engineering and was commissioned a Second Lieutenant in the United States Air Force through the ROTC program in 1953.

Prior to flight school he married Claire Wishman in June of 1953.  He spent the following 28 years flying for the New Jersey Air National Guard as an F-105 fighter pilot.  He enjoyed a long career as  a mechanical engineer employed by Fischer and Porter Company in Warminster designing chlorination instrumentation and magnetic flow meters to include numerous US patents.

Jim was an avid outdoorsman enjoying hunting, fishing, golf and sailing.  He and Claire raised 4 children in New Britain, PA and were very active in the New Britain Baptist Church.  In addition to church choir, they sang with the Now Time Singers and enjoyed singing for numerous family weddings.  Jim also participated in the Masonic Village choir where he was an active member.  He was also proud second-generation Mason.

Jim had a vibrant and larger than life personality and enjoyed being the life of his own party.  Next to his love for the Lord, his greatest joy was his family.  He was predeceased by his parents and his brother Roy.  He is survived by his wife Claire of almost 70 years and children, Jim (Sue) of Colorado Springs, CO, Cheryl Fulginiti (Jim) of Sellersville, PA, Karen Beyer (Bob) of Chester Springs, PA, and Rob (Tracy) of New Britain, PA.  He is also survived by his sister Joan Davis of Haddonfield, NJ.  Additionally, he and Claire were blessed with 14 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to New Britain Baptist Church and the Masonic Village at Lafayette Hill.
