Obituary of Joan Fratz
Joan Fratz (nee Eplett) born on November 30, 1931, in Philadelphia, Pa passed away peacefully at the Masonic Home in Lafayette Hill, Pa. on Tuesday May 10th, 2022.
Joan, a life-long Philadelphia girl, graduated from Pierce Jr. College and went on to work for the Reading Railroad and Sun Oil for many years. She continued to work in administration until she retired in her 70’s. She was also a dedicated member of the Eastern Star for over 50 years.
Her passion for baseball, especially the St. Louis Cardinals, led her to travel the country to visit every baseball park in America. She was a dedicated fan of the game and spent many a Saturday afternoon watching the Phillies. Joan married Charles Fratz in 1974 and together they spent years sharing their love of this country (and baseball) by taking road trips to just about everywhere. She would often take her nieces and nephews on these trips to see the country. She was the best tour guide.
Joan had an amazing laugh, rapier wit that could make you double over with laughter, and an old-fashioned zest for life. She believed strongly in giving back to her community and spent much of her retirement in service to others. She also had a deep love for her 3 stepchildren, 7 nieces and nephews, and over 30 grandnieces and nephews and great grandnieces and nephews and step grandchildren.
We will miss the “old fashioned” cards and letters we often received, her stories of our family, our trips to everywhere with her, and her place at our holiday table.
