Obituary of Elaine R Smith

Elaine R. Smith, 90, of Jenkintown, PA. passed away on Sunday, February 20, 2022 after a brief illness at Abington Memorial Hospital. She was the daughter of the late Edward C. Seiz and Gertrude H Seiz. She was the beloved wife of Harry R. Smith, who lovingly called her "The Queen", loving mother of her son David, and daughter-in-law, Diane, and cherished grandmother to her grandsons, Daniel and Derek. 

She is survived by her sisters Dorothy May Noller, Trudy Synnestvedt and sister-in-law Margaret (Peggy) Seiz and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was born and raised in the Tacony neighborhood of Philadelphia. She was the youngest of 5 siblings, which included Elinore, Edward, Dorothy and Trudy. She worked briefly for the Pennsylvania Railroad where she met her future husband Harry. She was a profesional church musician for most of her life and spent the majority of her career singing for the Presbyterian Church of Frankford.

She loved playing the piano, singing and spending time with her family. She also loved cats and adopted many over the years. She was an avid fan of Marilyn Horne and enjoyed occasional trips to the Metropolitan Opera with her former organist Edna Hemingway.

A reception for family and friends will be held at the Lownes Family Funeral Home, 659 Germantown Pike, Lafayette Hill, PA. at 10 AM on Saturday, February 26, 2022, followed by a memorial service at 11 AM at the same location.
