Norma H. Baker, age 84 of Phila. PA, died Friday (3/22/13) at her residence at Cathedral Village in the Andorra section of Phila. She was a retired School teacher and owner. Mrs. Baker was born in Phila., PA, the daughter of the late Henry and the late Norma Deschin Herrmannn. Mrs. Baker was known to her loved ones as an extraordinary lady and loved being a teacher to many. For many years she owned and operated a Montessori School where she taught and directed a great collection of children from every socio-economic and ethnic background. In her younger years raising her family ,Mrs. Baker would make clothes for her family and herself often using the wool she had spun and dyed herself from the sheep she had raised. She had been a member of the Hand Weavers Guild and had won numerous awards for her artistic talent. Mrs. Baker loved music also and played the piano and organ along with singing in her churches choirs. She will be sadly missed by her loving family and many friends. She is survived by her husband Calvin D. Baker Sr. two daughters: Wendy Partington (Rick) of Erdenheim, PA, Tran Le N. Hill (Jim) of Westfield, NJ two sons: C.Daniel Baker Jr.(Karen) of Pittsburg, PA, M. Thomas Baker (Sue) of Dallas, TX one brother: Henry Herrmann-Westchester,Pa. 9 Grand,5 Great Grandchildren, Predeceased by a brother Ralph. . Memorial Services will be held Friday 4/5/2013 at 3:00 pm in the Saint Thomas Church Whitemarsh, Ft. Washington, Burial will be private Memorial donations may be made to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinsons Research, po box-5014, Hagerstown,Md. 21741-5041
