Brian E. Brown, age 18 of Flourtown PA., died suddenly Saturday (3/16) While visiting in Jackson TN. Brian was a quiet, reflective and sensitive young man. He was a good listener and was sensitive to the energy of others. He was a spiritual person and he especially connected with St. Francis and the Beatitudes. He loved the outdoors: fishing, playing in the waves, working outside, and volunteering for the Wissahickon Valley Watershed. Brian had concern for others and volunteered for Special Olympics and worked with young athletes with special needs through TOPSoccer. He loved animals and had a special bond with his pets. Casey his first dog and Lucy his German shepherd ,his turtle Roadrunner and Homie G the calf he raised from birth.. Brian enjoyed horses and learned to ride and handle horses and felt special connection to these animals. He loved wildlife, and was always looking when outdoors to spot a wild turkey, turtle, deer or even tiny lizard. He liked travel and visited national parks like Yellowstone, Grand Canyon, Zion, Arches and Bryce. He worked with all types of animals in the last year of life: pigs, calves and horses. Brian loved sports both watching and participating and had a quiet competitive spirit. Sports included soccer, basketball, golf and cross country and lacrosse which he participated at PWHS in XC and LAX . Brian was academically strong and was accepted to attend Elon University in NC. He loved to read and enjoyed everything from Harry Potter to the Count of Monte Cristo. His happiest times were with his siblings and cousins playing mini golf at the Jersey shore or enjoying a card game at the dining room table. He was always the one who would initiate a board game or back yard soccer game in our family. He enjoyed backyard wiffle ball and football games with neighbor friends. In his last year he lived Utah, New Hampshire and Tennessee meeting new people and experiencing new things. He raised a calf and secured its adoption. Brian worked at a pig farm in Utah where he rode an ATV, drove a tractor, learned to lasso, mend fences. He skied; ice climbed and played pond ice hockey while in NH. His farm experience and his hard working nature led him to a farm in Tennessee where he spent his last days doing those things he enjoyed most. He loved for his family and he knows we love him deeply and always accepted him for who he was.
