Tommy was my pal in grade school... just happen to come across this because I was thinking about him.
We had some great snow ball fights together (as he was on my team). Tommy will always be a part of my childhood memories on Lehigh Ave.

Tom and I were best friends our whole lives.
Spending time with Tom was always fun and challenging, because you just knew he knew more than you. He would never let that get in the way of a good conversation. I spoke with Tom often and honestly, I learned something every single time. Music, current events, movies, sports, shared memories.
I loved Tom and his death leaves an enormous void.

Tommy Speranza was my Dad’s friend since grade school. His departure was very sudden and wildly unexpected. So much a part of my life that...I really never imagined a time could even exist when he wouldn't be around. Trying to explain why he was so special to me...and it’s just like...he really cared about things that are worth caring about, and he really didn’t care about things that weren’t worth caring about. Any Major Dude with half a heart surely will tell you my friend...he was our spiritual guide. We will never forget him. This is really sad,...but, Tom didn’t do sad. Wasn’t his cup of tea. So, I’m gonna carry on diligently trying to be as cool as he was to everyone he came in contact with....cause he taught me there is a lot of Love out there.
Here’s a picture from a couple years back. My son Chris was just starting freshman football at LaSalle. Tom came out to watch him play. He gave my both my boys boatloads of encouragement. I love this photo...because in addition to it containing some my favorite people...the look in my son’s eyes is the essence of what Tom brought to every interaction. Genuine happiness. This happiness attribute literally spilled off this guy in countless situations. A uniquely awesome character, he will be dearly missed.

Good-Bye Uncle Tom. Your sense of humor and great storytelling will surely be missed. You will always be one of the "Beatles" to us. Just let it be...see you on the other side.
