Obituary of Charles J. Johnson
Charles J. Johnson, of Lafayette Hill, Pennsylvania, passed away on October 27th, 2020. He was born on March, 5th 1940, in West Philadelphia, the son of the late Mary (Dolan) and Landis Johnson. He was the devoted husband of Carole (Gernhardt) for 51 years, loving father to Karen, Dennis (Erin), and David, and cherished Pop Pop to Andrew, Justin, Tommy, Caroline, Timothy and Patrick. He was the loving brother of Mariann Porreca (Ed) and was a role model to many nieces and nephews. Charlie attended West Catholic High School ‘58, St. Joseph’s University ‘62, and received his MBA from Drexel University. A Certified Public Accountant, he had a long successful career in finance at the Medical College of Pennsylvania (MCP) and St. Joseph’s Preparatory School. He was a devoted Catholic and a man of deep Faith, which played a major role in a life committed to serving others. Charlie was a long-time member of St. Philip Neri Parish in Lafayette Hill, where he enjoyed volunteering his time over the years and coaching CYO sports. He was a respected member of the community and volunteered for many years in Whitemarsh youth sports. He was also a lifelong Philadelphia sports fan, a simple man, whose ideal vacations were trips with family to Florida, Indiana, and the Jersey shore. His wings were ready, but our Hearts were not. He will be remembered by the example he set each and every day.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, his Mass of Christian Burial will be private.
