Obituary of Kathryn Gilinger
On Sunday, July 19, 2020, Kathryn Elizabeth Gilinger, loving mother and grandmother, passed away at the age of 89. Kathryn was born on February 20, 1931 in Norristown, PA. She was the daughter of the late J. Harold and Violet B. Hunsicker. Kathryn was preceded in death by her husband, Frank, and her sons, Donald and Jack. She is survived by her son, Chris, his wife, Michelle, and daughter-in-law, Donna. She was grandmother to Lynn, Mary, Jennifer, Frank, John, and Ryan. She was great-grandmother to Alyssa, Jack, Liliana, Hudson, and Arias. Kathryn was the eldest of six girls. She is preceded in death by sisters, Mae and Anna, and survived by sisters, Bette, Sara, and Janet. She was an aunt and great-aunt to many nieces and nephews.
For many years, Kathryn worked for Stroehmann Bakery. She was very independent and during her retirement, she spent time working at QVC. Not only did she work in sales, but she also helped boost their sales with several packages arriving on a daily basis. Throughout her life, Kathryn loved to travel and cruise with her family and friends. She took many RV journeys across the country. She was an avid card and game player often into the wee hours. Those who knew Kathryn knew that she always played to win. Kathryn was involved in many card clubs throughout her life. She enjoyed gardening and loved her companionship with her cats. She had a fondness for collecting angels. Kathryn will be viewed by her family as their own special angel.
A visitation with the family will be held on Thursday, July 23, 2020 at Lownes Funeral Home in Lafayette Hills, PA from 6:00PM to 8:00PM. Masks will be required.
